As the organizers of La Peña del SurCo, we believe everyone should have access to live music. As younger musicians, we each had the privilage of experiencing informal venues and gathering spaces that had no cover charge and where we were able to listen to and make music with professional musicians we greatly admired. We believe spaces like this are essential in building healthy and sustainable musical ecosystems and in promoting community wellbeing. We also recognize the time and skill that goes into musical labor and the challenges of being a professional artist and want to be able to pay our featured bands for their contributions to our events. We do our best to fundraise for the peña through grants and university support, but we need your help to sustain our mission. It costs about $7,000 a year to sustain the peña and so far for the 2025-2026 year we only have $2,000 raised. Please consider supporting today with a one-time or recurring monthly donation to our project. All proceeds will go toward peña costs and to the artists involved in bringing these events to life.
